Why 20ft is the most common size
The 20 foot container is the size most people end up with. It’s big enough to hold the contents of a house or a workshop full of tools, yet small enough to fit on a typical driveway, a farm pad or a builder’s site without taking over the whole space.
People use them as secure storage during a move or renovation, as a site office or lunch room on a building job, as a lockable shed on a farm or bush block, or as long term storage for gear, stock or equipment. We transport new and used containers between yards, homes, farms and work sites.
What your site needs
A 20ft container delivered by tilt tray needs three things at the drop spot.
Flat, firm ground. The container should sit level so the doors open and close properly. Compacted gravel, a concrete slab or level pads under each corner all work well. Soft lawn or wet clay can sink under the truck and the container.
Overhead clearance. As the tray tilts, the front end of the container rises well above its height on the truck. Check for branches, power lines, carports and eaves above the drop spot and along the approach.
Room for the truck to tilt and pull away. The truck reverses in, tilts the tray and drives forward as the container slides off the back. You need a straight clear run in front of the drop spot, not just enough space for the container.
Placement and door orientation
Think about how you’ll use the container before it arrives. If you’ll be loading furniture or pallets, the doors should face open space, not a fence. For a site office, you might want the doors facing the work area or the street. On a farm, it may make sense to keep the doors out of the prevailing wind.
Tell us which way you want the doors to face when you book. The container is loaded onto the truck to suit, so changing your mind on the day can be hard. If you’d like it a set distance from a boundary or another building, mark the corners with pegs or paint.
The site check
We check your site before delivery. That lets us confirm the truck can get in, spot any trees or wires in the way, and agree on exactly where the container sits. Photos of the access and drop spot help a lot if you send them through when you text.
What to tell us when you call
- Pickup and delivery addresses
- Whether the container is empty or loaded, and what’s inside
- Ground type at the drop spot and whether it’s level
- Any gates, bends, trees or wires along the way
- Door direction and how close to fences or buildings it should go
Pricing
The cost depends on distance, the condition of access at both ends, whether the container is loaded, and timing or urgency. A flat, open drop is quicker than a tight suburban driveway or a rural track. Call or text 0419 857 070 with the container’s pickup and drop sites and we’ll price the move upfront, no hidden extras, under our best rates guarantee.
