Why we get called to Bayswater
Tonkin Highway runs along the eastern side of Bayswater, and it’s one of the busiest freight and commuter routes in Perth. Breakdowns there are risky because traffic is fast and heavy, so we treat them as a priority. Crashes at the Collier Road and Guildford Road interchanges also keep our accident towing crews busy.
The industrial streets in the north-east of the suburb, near Collier Road, bring a steady stream of work vehicles. Tradies’ utes with flat batteries, vans with gearbox trouble and the occasional small truck all need moving to a workshop.
Closer to the town centre, it’s mostly residential calls: older family cars that won’t start, or cars that need vehicle transport to a new owner or a mechanic.
Getting around Bayswater
Guildford Road runs through the southern part of the suburb, next to the railway line and Bayswater station. King William Street is the main shopping strip, and Garratt Road heads south to the river and across the old bridge to Ascot. Beechboro Road South goes north towards Morley, while Collier Road links east to Bassendean. To the west, Bayswater runs into Maylands.
Riverside Gardens and the river foreshore make for quieter callouts, usually a flat battery after a picnic.
Stuck in Bayswater? A few tips
- If you’re on Tonkin Highway, don’t try to cross lanes to reach an exit. Stop on the left shoulder.
- Near the station, give us the street and the closest shop or cafe.
- At an industrial unit, have the unit number and gate details ready.
- Tell us where the car needs to go before we arrive, so the driver can plan the trip.
