Accident towing across Perth
Most crashes we’re called to are ordinary ones. A rear-ender in peak hour on the freeway. A car turning right that misjudged the gap. A shopping centre car park bump that left a wheel pointing the wrong way. A single car that slid into a kerb or a pole on a wet night. In every case the car either can’t be driven or shouldn’t be, and someone needs to move it safely.
A car can look fine and still be unsafe to drive. A pushed-back wheel, a cracked radiator, a deployed airbag or a broken headlight are all good reasons to have it carried on a tilt tray rather than limped home. We load damaged cars fully onto the tray, which protects the driveline and any evidence the assessor needs to see.
With more than 10 trucks working across Perth at any hour, we can usually get a driver moving quickly.
After a crash in WA: what to do and who picks the tow truck
The first few minutes matter most. A simple order to follow:
- Make it safe. Hazard lights on. If you can’t move the car, get yourself and your passengers well away from traffic, behind a barrier if there is one.
- Call 000 if anyone is hurt or the crash is blocking a busy road in a dangerous spot.
- Swap details. Get the other driver’s name, address, licence number, registration and insurer. Photograph their licence if they’ll let you.
- Take photos of both cars, the road, any skid marks and the street signs nearby.
- Check whether you need to report it. Some crashes must be reported to WA Police. Their website explains when, and many reports can be made online.
Then comes the tow. The choice of tow company is yours. Trucks sometimes arrive at a crash before anyone has called them, and you are under no obligation to use them. Before you sign any towing paperwork, read where the car is going and what it will cost. If you call us, we’ll tell you both before we hook up.
If it turns out your car wasn’t in a crash but simply died on the road, our breakdown towing team handles that. If it needs moving again later, say from your home to a repairer, that’s a vehicle transport job.
Insurance billing after an accident
Paying a towing bill on the spot after a crash is the last thing most people want. Here is how direct billing works with us:
- Lodge your claim. Call your insurer from the scene or once you’re home, and note the claim number.
- Tell us the details. Give us your insurer’s name, the claim number and where the car should go: your repairer, your home or an assessing centre.
- We tow and invoice. We deliver the car and send our invoice straight to your insurer.
- You deal with the excess. Any excess is between you and your insurer. For an approved claim, you generally won’t pay us anything upfront.
If you’re not insured, or the claim isn’t accepted, the charges are still capped. Accident towing is regulated in WA: we’re authorised crash tow business #810, the most we can charge is set by law, and you sign an Authority to Tow showing the costs before we move your car. The full list of regulated charges is below. For the full detail, read how direct insurance billing works.
Where we work
We run accident towing around the clock in every Perth suburb. That takes in the freeways and highways through the northern suburbs, the growth corridors of the southern suburbs, the hills roads of the eastern suburbs, the coastal strip in the western suburbs and the busy arterials of the south-eastern suburbs. Wherever the crash happened, call 0419 857 070 and tell us the nearest cross street.

Accident tow costs are regulated by law
Since the Towing Services Act 2024, only businesses authorised by the WA Department of Transport can tow crashed vehicles, and the charges are capped. Quik Tow & Transport is authorised crash towing business #810. These are the most anyone can charge to tow a crashed car in Perth and Peel (from 1 July 2026):
| Crashed car or light vehicle | Maximum |
|---|---|
| Crash tow (first 50 km) | $523 |
| Each extra km after 50 km | $4.75 |
| After-hours surcharge | $149 |
| Storage, per day | $27 |
| Admin fee (one-off) | $95 |
| Motorcycle storage, per day | $13.50 |
| Motorcycle admin fee (one-off) | $95 |
What the tow charge covers: preparing, loading, transporting and unloading the crashed vehicle, clearing crash debris, and the photos, phone calls and paperwork, for the first 50 km.
What's not capped: extra recovery work where the car is hard to reach or load, such as winching it out of a ditch, is charged at a reasonable rate. We'll tell you before we start.
Authority to Tow: before we move a crashed car, you sign an Authority to Tow form that lists the towing and storage costs and where the car is going. You keep a copy.
Insured? For covered claims we bill your insurer directly, so you usually pay nothing on the day.
