What actually decides the cost of a tow
Every tow in Perth is priced on a handful of practical things. None of them are hidden, and we will walk you through them on the phone if you want. Here is what we look at.
Distance. This covers how far the truck travels to reach you and how far your vehicle goes after that. A breakdown in Joondalup going to a workshop down the road is a very different job to a car in Two Rocks heading to a repairer in Rockingham.
Vehicle type and size. A small hatch, a dual cab ute, a lowered sports car, an EV and a loaded 4WD all need different handling. Weight, length, ground clearance and drive type decide how we load it on the tilt tray and what straps and gear we use.
Running or not. If the car rolls, steers and brakes, loading is quick. If it has seized wheels, a locked steering column, no keys or flat batteries, we need more time and sometimes skates or extra winching.
Access, timing and waiting
Access at both ends. A car on a flat street is easy. A car in an underground car park with low clearance, down a battleaxe driveway, on a hills block in Kalamunda or stuck behind a locked gate takes more work. The drop off point matters too, so tell us if the workshop is closed or the destination has tight access.
Time of day and urgency. We run 24/7, including weekends and public holidays. A non-urgent job booked ahead can usually be slotted into a truck’s day. An immediate callout late at night on a public holiday is a different job.
Waiting time. If the driver has to wait for police, a tenant to move cars, a gate to be opened or paperwork to be signed, that time can be part of the quote. Let us know about anything that might hold things up.
Straight tow vs recovery work
A straight tow is a vehicle on a hard surface that can go straight onto the tray. Recovery is anything that has to be done before that: pulling a car out of a ditch on Wanneroo Road, winching a 4WD out of soft sand, or righting a vehicle after a crash. Recovery needs more time, gear and care, so it is priced separately. See 4WD recovery for off road jobs.
Insurance often means nothing on the day
If your car was in an accident and you are covered, we can bill your insurer directly. In most cases that means you pay nothing on the day and the car goes to your repairer or your insurer’s approved repairer. Read more on our insurance towing page.
How to get an accurate quote fast
Call or text 0419 857 070 and tell us:
- where the vehicle is now (street, suburb, car park level if relevant)
- where it needs to go
- make, model and anything unusual (lowered, modified, EV, 4WD, towing a trailer)
- whether it runs, rolls and steers, and whether you have the keys
- any access issues at either end
- whether it is an insurance claim
- how soon you need it
With that, we can give you a fixed upfront quote and a realistic ETA from the nearest of our 10+ trucks.
Pricing
There is no single price for a tow truck in Perth, and anyone who quotes one without asking questions is guessing. Our quotes are built from distance, vehicle, whether it runs, access at both ends, time and urgency, any waiting, and whether recovery work is needed. You get the figure upfront, with no hidden fees, backed by our best rates guarantee.
Where we work
We cover every Perth suburb, from Two Rocks to Secret Harbour and Cottesloe to Mundaring. That includes the northern suburbs, eastern suburbs, southern suburbs, western suburbs, south-eastern suburbs and the Perth CBD.

WA authorised crash towing business #810
Accident tow costs are regulated by law
Since the Towing Services Act 2024, only businesses authorised by the WA Department of Transport can tow crashed vehicles, and the charges are capped. Quik Tow & Transport is authorised crash towing business #810. These are the most anyone can charge to tow a crashed car in Perth and Peel (from 1 July 2026):
| Crashed car or light vehicle | Maximum |
|---|---|
| Crash tow (first 50 km) | $523 |
| Each extra km after 50 km | $4.75 |
| After-hours surcharge | $149 |
| Storage, per day | $27 |
| Admin fee (one-off) | $95 |
| Motorcycle storage, per day | $13.50 |
| Motorcycle admin fee (one-off) | $95 |
What the tow charge covers: preparing, loading, transporting and unloading the crashed vehicle, clearing crash debris, and the photos, phone calls and paperwork, for the first 50 km.
What's not capped: extra recovery work where the car is hard to reach or load, such as winching it out of a ditch, is charged at a reasonable rate. We'll tell you before we start.
Authority to Tow: before we move a crashed car, you sign an Authority to Tow form that lists the towing and storage costs and where the car is going. You keep a copy.
Insured? For covered claims we bill your insurer directly, so you usually pay nothing on the day.
