Breakdown towing across Perth
A breakdown rarely happens somewhere convenient. We get calls from people stopped in the left lane of the freeway, from parents whose car won’t start at the school pick-up, from tradies whose ute died on site and from drivers who came back to a car park to find nothing happens when they turn the key. Some cars give warning signs for days. Others stop with no notice at all. If a warning light comes on or the temperature gauge starts to climb, pull over as soon as it’s safe. Driving on can turn a modest repair into a much bigger one.
Whatever the situation, the job is the same: get your car off the road or out of the way safely and take it somewhere it can be fixed. With more than 10 trucks on the road across Perth, there’s usually one not too far from you.
Why cars break down, and what we can and can’t do roadside
Most of the breakdowns we tow come down to a handful of causes:
- Batteries and alternators. Perth’s summer heat is hard on batteries, and a failing alternator will flatten a new one within a drive.
- Overheating. A coolant leak, a split hose or a failed water pump can push the temperature gauge into the red in stop-start traffic on a hot afternoon.
- Tyres and wheels. A blowout that damages the rim, or a flat with no usable spare.
- Fuel problems. Running out, or filling a petrol car with diesel (or the other way around).
- Gearbox, clutch and timing belt failures. These almost always need a workshop.
We’re a towing company, not a mobile mechanic. Where it’s safe and simple, our driver may be able to help with something basic, but most breakdowns need proper diagnosis, and that happens at a workshop. We’d rather be straight about that from the first call than have you pay for a roadside visit that ends in a tow anyway.
Tilt tray towing is the safest way to move a car that won’t drive. The whole vehicle rides on the tray, so there’s no wear on the gearbox and no risk to an all-wheel-drive system. It also lets us load cars with seized brakes or locked steering, using a winch to draw them up slowly.
If your car broke down because of a collision, our accident towing page covers what to do at the scene. If your car isn’t broken but just needs moving, for example to a buyer or a new home, see vehicle transport.
Insurance and roadside cover
Some insurance policies and roadside assistance memberships include breakdown towing. If yours does, give us the details when you call and we can bill your insurer directly where the policy allows it. Otherwise, we’ll quote upfront. The price depends on distance, the vehicle, the time of day and how easy the car is to reach. Our pricing is transparent and backed by a best rates guarantee. You can read more about how direct insurance billing works.
