Bought it online, now to get it home

Private sales through Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree and Carsales are a great way to find a car, but the car is not always somewhere convenient. It might be across town, it might not run, or it might have no rego. Or you just do not want to drive an unfamiliar car through Perth traffic.

Call or text 0419 857 070 and we will handle the pickup. It is part of our vehicle transport service.

Coordinating with the seller

Most of the work in a private sale pickup is communication. Before booking, sort out:

  • Seller contact: a phone number for the seller, so our driver can confirm the time on the day.
  • Address and location: where the car is parked and whether there is room for a tilt tray.
  • Payment: settled between you and the seller before we arrive.
  • Keys: either the seller hands them to our driver, or they are left in the car.

We will confirm the time with you, and you can pass it on to the seller, or we can contact them directly if you prefer.

Paperwork

Ownership transfer in WA is between you and the seller, so get the paperwork sorted before or at pickup. Ask the seller to put any documents, such as the service book, spare keys and transfer papers, in the glovebox so they travel with the car. Take photos of anything important before the car leaves.

Running or not

Not every private sale car runs. That is fine. If it is a project, a dead car or one with flat tyres, it can be winched onto the tilt tray. Tell us what the seller has told you about its condition so the driver comes prepared. Non running cars are a routine part of our vehicle transport work.

If the car has no rego, transport on a tilt tray means it never needs to drive on the road. Just let us know it is unregistered when you book.

How it rides

On a tilt tray, the car rides fully on the deck, strapped at the wheels. Your new purchase doesn’t turn a wheel on the trip, so it arrives without extra kilometres or wear on the tyres and driveline. You get the car in the condition it was in at the seller’s place.

Where should it go?

  • Your home: straight to your driveway or garage.
  • Your mechanic: for a pre-purchase check or repairs before it hits the road.
  • Storage: if you have nowhere to keep it yet.

We also collect cars bought at auction houses like Pickles, Manheim and Grays.

Pricing

The price depends on the distance between seller and drop-off, the vehicle type, whether it runs, access at both ends and timing. Send us the seller’s address and yours, and we’ll fix the pickup price before collection, with no add-ons and our best rates guarantee. Call or text 0419 857 070 with both addresses.

Where we work

We pick up and deliver across every Perth suburb, from Two Rocks to Secret Harbour and Cottesloe to Mundaring, including the northern, southern, eastern, western and south-eastern suburbs. Regional runs from Perth are also available. See all areas.

FAQ

Your questions

Do I need to be there when you pick up the car?

Not always. If you have already paid and the seller has handed over the keys and paperwork, we can collect with the seller present. Make sure the seller knows we are coming and has agreed to release the car.

Can you pick up a car I bought on Facebook Marketplace?

Yes. Marketplace, Gumtree and Carsales are some of the most common places our private sale pickups come from. Send us the seller's address and a contact number, and we will coordinate the pickup time.

Should I pay before you collect it?

That is between you and the seller, but settle payment and paperwork before the pickup so there is no confusion at the driveway. We collect the car once the seller confirms it is ready to go.

Can you take it straight to my mechanic for an inspection?

Yes. Many buyers have the car delivered straight to their mechanic for a once-over. Let the workshop know it is coming and check where they want it left.
