Boats on trailers
We move boats that sit on their own trailers: tinnies, runabouts, half cabins, ski and wake boats, centre consoles and jet skis. Common jobs include ramp pickups when the tow vehicle fails, moving a boat to or from storage, taking it in for a service or antifouling and collecting a boat bought privately.
Stuck at the ramp
A flat battery, a slipped clutch on a wet ramp or a car that overheats pulling a heavy boat up the slope can leave you stuck at places like Woodman Point, Hillarys or the Swan River launches. If the boat is still in the water, secure it to the jetty and clear the ramp lane for other users if you can. If it’s half out, chock the trailer wheels and leave the car in park with the handbrake on.
Tell us which ramp you’re at and how far up the boat is. We’ll send the nearest truck and give you a realistic ETA.
Size and trailer condition
The right truck depends on the size of the boat and the state of the trailer. When you call, have this ready:
- Overall length of the boat and trailer
- Boat type and approximate weight, including the motor and fuel
- Single or tandem axle trailer
- Condition of the tyres, wheel bearings, coupling and lights
- Whether the trailer is registered
A trailer with flat tyres or a seized bearing may not be safe to roll any distance, so it’s better we know before the driver arrives.
Preparing the boat for the trip
Before we move it, take out loose gear, fishing rods, eskies and anything that could blow out. Make sure the motor is tilted up and locked, covers are tied down tight and the bung is in a safe place you’ll remember. If the boat has been in salt water, drain the bilge if you can so there’s less weight sloshing about.
Storage and service moves
Not every job is an emergency. If you need a boat taken to a storage yard, a marine mechanic, a slipway or to a new house, we can book a time that suits you. Describe access at both ends, especially narrow side gates, steep driveways or tight storage aisles.
Pricing
The cost depends on the distance, the size and weight of the boat and trailer, whether the trailer rolls safely, access at both ends and the time of day or urgency. Call or text 0419 857 070 with the boat’s length and where it’s stored, and we’ll give you a clear, all-in price for the move before we hitch up.
