What keeps us busy in Midland
Midland is the main commercial centre for the City of Swan, and it’s a crossroads. Great Eastern Highway runs through the middle of town, Roe Highway sweeps past the eastern side, and Great Northern Highway starts here and heads north into the Swan Valley. Freight, commuters and day-trippers all pass through, so crashes at the busier intersections and breakdowns on the highway approaches are regular accident towing and breakdown jobs for us.
The town centre brings its own calls. Midland Gate draws shoppers from across the eastern suburbs and the hills, and its car parks see dead batteries, faulty starters and keys locked inside. The hospital precinct on the old workshops land is another regular pickup point, often for visitors whose car gave out after a long shift at a bedside.
Main roads and neighbouring suburbs around Midland
Eastbound traffic uses Great Eastern Highway through the centre, while westbound traffic runs along Victoria Street, so it helps to tell us which one you’re on. Lloyd Street crosses the rail line near the workshops, and Morrison Road heads east into Midvale and on towards Swan View.
North of the centre, the quiet streets of Viveash back onto the Swan River. To the south-east, the highway climbs past Bellevue towards the hills, and to the west, historic Guildford is only a few minutes away.
Stuck in Midland? Here’s what helps
- Tell us whether you’re on Great Eastern Highway or Victoria Street, as they run one way in opposite directions through town.
- At Midland Gate, note the closest store or car park entry.
- On Roe Highway, stay behind the barrier and keep well away from the traffic lanes.
- Let us know where the car should go: home, your mechanic or the insurer’s repairer.
