Crashes on Joondalup’s main roads
Joondalup Drive, Ocean Reef Road and Shenton Avenue carry heavy traffic through the city centre, the health campus and out to the coast. Rear-enders at the lights, side-swipes at roundabouts and collisions at busy intersections like Joondalup Drive and Hodges Drive are common.
On the Mitchell Freeway near the Joondalup and Hodges Drive exits, crashes happen at speed and in fast traffic. If you’re stuck on the freeway, stay behind the barrier if there is one and away from the car, and wait for help.
Whatever the location, we send the nearest truck with a realistic ETA, 24/7.
Lakeside Joondalup car park bumps
Not every accident is on the open road. Car park scrapes and low speed collisions at Lakeside Joondalup can leave a car with a broken wheel, a smashed radiator or a bumper dragging on the ground. It might look minor, but if the car isn’t safe to drive, don’t risk it.
Tell us which car park and level you’re in, and whether the car can roll and steer. Multi-level car parks have height limits, so we plan the pickup to suit.
Loading a damaged car
Every accident tow is done on a tilt tray. The car rides fully on the tray, not on its own wheels, so damaged suspension, a flat tyre or a bent rim won’t make things worse on the trip. Cars that can’t roll are winched up carefully.
Loose parts like bumpers, mirrors and trim are collected and secured with the car where possible. Debris from the crash is cleared so the road can reopen.
Insurance and where your car goes
For covered claims, we bill your insurer directly, so there’s usually nothing for you to pay on the day. We take the car to your chosen repairer or to your insurer’s approved repairer. If you’re not sure yet, we can take it somewhere safe and move it once your claim is sorted. Read more on insurance towing.
What to do while you wait
- Check everyone is okay. Call 000 if anyone is hurt or the road is blocked
- Turn on your hazard lights and set up a warning triangle if you carry one
- Swap names, phone numbers, rego and insurance details with the other driver
- Take photos of the damage, the cars’ positions and the street or exit
- Remove valuables, documents and car seats if it’s safe to do so

WA authorised crash towing business #810
Accident tow costs are regulated by law
Since the Towing Services Act 2024, only businesses authorised by the WA Department of Transport can tow crashed vehicles, and the charges are capped. Quik Tow & Transport is authorised crash towing business #810. These are the most anyone can charge to tow a crashed car in Perth and Peel (from 1 July 2026):
| Crashed car or light vehicle | Maximum |
|---|---|
| Crash tow (first 50 km) | $523 |
| Each extra km after 50 km | $4.75 |
| After-hours surcharge | $149 |
| Storage, per day | $27 |
| Admin fee (one-off) | $95 |
| Motorcycle storage, per day | $13.50 |
| Motorcycle admin fee (one-off) | $95 |
What the tow charge covers: preparing, loading, transporting and unloading the crashed vehicle, clearing crash debris, and the photos, phone calls and paperwork, for the first 50 km.
What's not capped: extra recovery work where the car is hard to reach or load, such as winching it out of a ditch, is charged at a reasonable rate. We'll tell you before we start.
Authority to Tow: before we move a crashed car, you sign an Authority to Tow form that lists the towing and storage costs and where the car is going. You keep a copy.
Insured? For covered claims we bill your insurer directly, so you usually pay nothing on the day.
