Getting stuck around Yanchep and Two Rocks
The coast north of Perth is popular for beach driving and track runs, and it’s easy to get caught out. The sand around Yanchep and Two Rocks is fine and soft, especially higher up the beach and on dune tracks after a run of hot, dry days.
Common reasons people get bogged here: tyre pressures left at road levels, stopping on soft sand, trying to turn on a slope, or following the tracks of a heavier vehicle that has dug ruts too deep. Towing a trailer or boat on sand makes all of these more likely.
Beach and track access
Driving on beaches in this area is limited to permitted access points and tracks, and conditions change with the season, the tide and the wind. Check local rules and closures before you head out.
If you do get stuck, take note of which access track you came in on and how far along the beach or track you are. A GPS pin dropped from your phone is the most useful thing you can send us.
How we recover a 4WD
Every recovery starts with a look at how the vehicle is sitting. We check whether it’s bellied out on the chassis, whether the wheels are buried and whether it’s on a slope. Then we choose the safest way to pull it out, using rated recovery gear on proper recovery points, not tow balls or bull bar mounts.
Once it’s free, we get it back to firm ground. If the vehicle can’t be driven, it’s loaded on a tilt tray so it rides fully on the tray with no strain on the drivetrain, and we take it home or to a workshop. Read more on our 4WD recovery service.
What to do while you wait
- Stop spinning the wheels, it only digs you deeper
- Get passengers out and to a safe spot, away from the tide and other vehicles
- Lower your tyre pressures if you have a gauge and know what you’re doing
- Put on hazard lights and keep your phone charged
- Stay with the vehicle if it’s safe, so we can find you
What to tell us when you call
- Your exact location or GPS pin, and the access track you used
- Vehicle make and model, and whether you’re towing anything
- How deep it’s stuck and whether it’s on a slope
- Whether the tide or nightfall is a factor
- Any damage, overheating or fluid leaks
Pricing
The cost depends on how far we need to travel, the type of vehicle, how badly it’s stuck, access to where you are, and the time of day or urgency. A recovery from a remote spot on the beach takes longer than one close to a sealed road. Call or text 0419 857 070 with a pin drop of where you’re bogged and we’ll quote the recovery before heading out, all costs on the table and backed by our best rates guarantee.
