Common City Beach callouts

Most jobs here begin with a day at the beach. Doors left open for hours, a stereo running while the kids swim, or a phone charging off the battery can leave a car flat by late afternoon in the City Beach and Floreat Beach car parks. Salt and sand also find their way into older cars, and we see seized brakes and stubborn starters from regular beachgoers.

The other big source of work is West Coast Highway. It carries summer traffic between Scarborough and Swanbourne, and the side-street intersections around Challenger Parade and Oceanic Drive see rear-end and turning crashes. We clear those as insured jobs, and we take the car wherever your insurer or you choose.

Behind the dunes, City Beach is quiet residential streets with large homes and plenty of European cars. Low-clearance vehicles get loaded on a tilt tray with soft straps so nothing scrapes.

Getting around City Beach with a tow truck

Oceanic Drive runs east from the coast to Floreat and on towards the city, while The Boulevard links the northern end of the suburb inland past Floreat Forum. Kalinda Drive and Oceanic Drive frame much of Bold Park, the big bushland reserve on the southern side, so there’s no through road there and we come in from the highway or the east.

North along the coast you reach Scarborough; to the south is Swanbourne. For cars that just need moving rather than rescuing, such as a car heading to a buyer or a restorer, our vehicle transport service covers that too.

Broken down in City Beach? Do this

  1. In a beach car park, give us the beach name and the row or nearest building, such as the surf club.
  2. On West Coast Highway, get into a side street or a car park entrance rather than stopping in the lane.
  3. If the car is lowered or has a front spoiler, mention it so we bring the right ramps.
  4. Lock up valuables and keep your keys with you while you wait on the grass.

Local FAQ

Towing in City Beach: questions

My car died in the car park at City Beach or Floreat Beach. Can you get to it?

Yes. Both beach car parks have room for a tilt tray to back in, though summer weekends get crowded. Tell us which beach and whether you're near the surf club or the kiosk end, and keep the car's front clear if you can.

Is West Coast Highway near Challenger Parade a common spot for crashes?

It's a stretch with a history of accidents, mostly where traffic turns in and out of the side streets. If you've been hit there, move to Challenger Parade or a car park if the car can still roll, and we'll organise accident towing and bill your insurer.

Can I take my 4WD onto the sand at City Beach?

No. City Beach and Floreat Beach are swimming beaches with no vehicle access. If you've bogged a 4WD on a beach further up or down the coast where driving is allowed, call us about a sand recovery.

Need a tow in City Beach?

A real person answers 24/7. Tell us where you are and we'll send the nearest truck. Insurance job? We'll deal with your insurer directly.
