Ocean Reef jobs we see most
The boat harbour at the western end of Hodges Drive drives a lot of our work in Ocean Reef. Towing a boat up a wet ramp is hard on clutches and automatic transmissions, and every summer we get calls from people whose car simply won’t pull the rig back up the slope. Wheel bearings on trailers, cars with saltwater on the electrics and batteries drained by a day of fishing radios round out the harbour list.
The suburb is also split by two busy roads. Hodges Drive runs east to Joondalup and the freeway, while Ocean Reef Road heads west from Marmion Avenue and then follows the coast north. Speed and sudden braking on both lead to rear-end crashes that we handle as accident towing, with your insurer billed directly where your policy allows.
Ocean Reef roads and neighbouring suburbs
Hodges Drive divides the older southern half of Ocean Reef from the northern half around Beaumaris. Ocean Reef Road continues along the coast to Shenton Avenue, where it becomes Burns Beach Road and runs on into Iluka, with Oceanside Promenade dropping south to Mullaloo. Marmion Avenue forms the eastern side, and across it are Heathridge and Connolly. Shenton Avenue and Hodges Drive both lead straight into the Joondalup city centre.
Behind the beach is a wide band of protected dunes, so the car parks along the coast road are where cars usually end up when something goes wrong.
Help for drivers stuck in Ocean Reef
- On the boat ramp, let other launchers know and keep people clear of the trailer while you wait.
- If you’ve stopped on Hodges Drive or Ocean Reef Road, turn off into the nearest street or car park rather than stopping in a lane.
- Tell us the vehicle and whether there’s a boat or trailer attached, so we send a truck that can handle both.
- Keep the keys with you and the steering unlocked if the car will need to be rolled onto the tray.
