Towing in Tapping: everyday problems on busy roads
Tapping was farmland and market gardens until the 1990s, and it’s now a fully built family suburb. Many households have two or three cars, often including a learner’s first car or an older ute, so batteries, starter motors and tired cooling systems give us steady breakdown towing work here, especially in the heat of summer.
The roads around the edge carry most of the risk. Joondalup Drive runs along the northern side and is one of the busiest routes into the Joondalup city centre. Wanneroo Road forms the western edge, and Pinjar Road the eastern one. Fast traffic, plenty of signalised intersections and drivers turning into estates mean side-impact and rear-end crashes, and we’re often called to clear damaged cars from those corners.
Main routes and neighbouring suburbs
Joondalup Drive separates Tapping from Carramar to the north and heads west to the Joondalup city centre. Across Wanneroo Road is the northern tip of Wanneroo, and the road runs south through the Wanneroo town centre towards the city, with Joondalup a short drive west. Pinjar Road leads north to Banksia Grove and south to its end in Ashby, while Conti Road marks the southern boundary with Ashby.
Inside the suburb, curved streets and cul-de-sacs mean the quickest route in isn’t always obvious, so a clear street name and house number helps a lot.
Your car has broken down in Tapping
- If you’re on Joondalup Drive or Wanneroo Road, use the nearest slip lane or side street rather than stopping in a through lane.
- Give us the street name and the closest cross street or park, since many Tapping streets have similar names.
- Tell us if the car is in a garage with low clearance or on a steep driveway.
- If you need the car moved after hours, tell us where to leave it and how the keys will be handled.
