Common Applecross callouts
Applecross wraps around a bend of the Swan River, and most traffic funnels through Canning Highway on its way to Canning Bridge and the city. That makes the highway our busiest pickup point here. Peak-hour shunts near Riseley Street and the bridge happen often, and a car stopped in a right-turn lane can bring everything to a halt. These are typical accident towing jobs.
The precinct around Canning Bridge has filled with apartments and offices, and basement car parks bring their own problems. Flat batteries in underground bays, cars that won’t start after weeks without use and low-clearance ramps all mean careful work with the right truck. Down by the water, the riverside reserves draw crowds on sunny afternoons, and we’re regularly called to cars that won’t start after a long day parked near the yacht club.
Streets and landmarks we know in Applecross
Canning Highway forms the suburb’s southern edge, with Ardross on the other side. Riseley Street heads south past Westfield Booragoon towards Booragoon and Leach Highway, Kintail Road heads west towards Alfred Cove, and Canning Beach Road follows the river from Canning Bridge around to Point Heathcote. Ardross Street links the highway with the leafy streets near the foreshore.
You can read about the highway’s known trouble spots on our Canning Highway page. Narrow residential streets with mature trees and parked cars can make access tricky, so we sometimes plan the approach before we arrive.
