Common jobs in Hammond Park
This is one of Cockburn’s growth suburbs, and growth brings a particular mix of calls. Construction traffic leaves screws, nails and offcuts on the road, so we pick up a lot of cars with flat tyres and no usable spare. Newly sealed streets and temporary roundabouts confuse drivers at night, and the occasional car ends up on a kerb or in a drainage swale.
School runs are another pattern. With several primary schools and Hammond Park Secondary College in the suburb, mornings and afternoons are busy, and a car that won’t restart in a school car park needs moving before the next pickup wave.
Commuters heading for the Kwinana Freeway make up the rest. A breakdown on the freeway is often the start of someone’s worst morning, and we’re used to getting them off the shoulder and to a workshop.
How we get around Hammond Park
Hammond Road is the main north to south spine, linking Russell Road with Rowley Road. Frankland Avenue and Wattleup Road both cross Hammond Road, with Wattleup Road continuing west into the semi-rural land around Wattleup. To the north, Russell Road separates the suburb from Success, while Aubin Grove and the Kwinana Freeway are just to the east. The sports grounds at Frankland Park are an easy landmark for meeting a truck.
If you’re stuck in Hammond Park now
- If you’re on a new street, share a map pin as well as the address.
- Near a school, move the car out of the drop-off lane if you can, even if only a few metres.
- With a flat tyre and no spare, tell us the tyre size if you know it so we can plan the drop-off.
- On Rowley Road or Russell Road, stay off the road shoulder while you wait.
