This is one of Perth’s older seaside neighbourhoods, once home to a power station, rail yards and an abattoir and now mostly houses, cafes and the beach. Its streets were laid out long before modern cars, so a lot of our jobs here involve narrow roads, tight laneways and cars hemmed in by parked vehicles on both sides.
South Beach is the main attraction. On a hot weekend the car parks fill up, people walk dogs and swim for hours, and some come back to a car that won’t start. South Terrace and Marine Terrace have pubs and cafes along them, so we also get late calls from people who decide to leave the car and want it home.
Hampton Road and Cockburn Road on the eastern side carry a lot of through traffic towards Coogee and Spearwood. Rear-end crashes at the lights there are handled as accident towing jobs, with your insurer billed directly where possible.
Roads and places we cover around South Fremantle
South Street forms the northern boundary with Fremantle. South Terrace and Marine Terrace both run south from the city centre down to the beach area, with Douro Road crossing between Marine Terrace and Hampton Road.
Hampton Road runs along the eastern side next to Beaconsfield and ends at Cockburn Road, which continues south through North Coogee to Coogee and Henderson.
