Typical callouts around Hamilton Hill
Stock Road forms the eastern edge of the suburb and carries a steady flow of freight heading between the port and the southern industrial areas. Breakdowns there aren’t just inconvenient. The speed of the traffic and the number of trucks make them risky, so the first job is getting the car off the carriageway and onto a tilt tray.
Inside the suburb, the work is mostly everyday stuff. Hamilton Hill has a lot of older homes alongside newer infill housing, and plenty of older cars to go with them. Flat batteries, dead alternators and cooling system failures in summer are the usual breakdown jobs. We also get called to clear unregistered cars that have sat on a verge or in a backyard for too long.
Rockingham Road brings its own share of crashes at the intersections, particularly near the shops at the Spearwood end.
Main roads through Hamilton Hill
Cockburn Road runs along the western boundary, with North Coogee and the coast beyond it. Winterfold Road marks the northern edge, where the suburb meets Hilton and Beaconsfield. Phoenix Road forms the southern boundary with Spearwood, and Rockingham Road cuts diagonally through the middle on its way from Fremantle to the south. Manning Park, a big reserve in the south-west of the suburb, is a useful landmark if you need to describe where you are.
