What brings us to Winthrop
Winthrop was once a pine plantation and is now a quiet, established suburb of family homes. Inside its boundaries, our jobs are mainly cars that won’t start in the driveway, flat batteries at the Winthrop Village shops and vehicles that need breakdown towing to a mechanic.
The surrounding roads keep things busy. Leach Highway is a heavy freight route along the northern edge, and the Murdoch Drive side leads to Murdoch University, Fiona Stanley Hospital and the Murdoch train station. Students with older cars, hospital visitors coming back to a dead battery and commuters with a car that won’t start after a day parked at the station all contribute to our callouts nearby.
Roads and places we cover around Winthrop
Leach Highway separates Winthrop from Booragoon and Myaree to the north. Murdoch Drive runs down the eastern side towards Bateman and Murdoch, and North Lake Road forms the western boundary with Willagee and Kardinya. Somerville Boulevard links North Lake Road with Murdoch Drive along the south.
Within the suburb, Winthrop Drive divides east from west, and Jackson Avenue passes the primary school and the Winthrop Village shopping centre. Piney Lakes Reserve takes up the north-eastern corner.
