Towing in Willagee: the usual jobs
Willagee began as a post-war housing estate and is still largely residential, but two of the busiest roads in the southern suburbs run along its edges. Leach Highway on the north carries freight between Fremantle port and the eastern industrial areas, and Stock Road on the west is part of National Route 1. Breakdowns and rear-end crashes on both are a regular source of calls, and many become accident towing jobs billed to the insurer.
Inside the suburb, things are calmer. Typical jobs are older cars that won’t start, vehicles parked on the verge for too long that need moving, and the odd car stuck in a driveway with a failed gearbox. Junior footy at Winnacott Reserve and rugby league at Webber Reserve also mean busy car parks on weekends.
Roads and places we cover around Willagee
Leach Highway forms the northern boundary, with Melville and Myaree on the other side. Stock Road runs down the western edge next to Palmyra and O’Connor, and North Lake Road marks the eastern side towards Winthrop. Garling Street closes off the south next to Kardinya.
Winnacott Street runs north to south through the middle and Archibald Street runs east to west, meeting at the local shops, library and community centre.
Stuck in Willagee? Here’s how to help us find you
- On Leach Highway, never walk across the lanes. Wait behind the car on the verge side.
- In the residential streets, give us the house number or nearest corner.
- If you’re at a sports ground, tell us which oval and which gate.
- Tell us if the car is low, modified or won’t roll, so we bring the right gear.
