What brings us to O’Connor
Most of O’Connor is light industrial and commercial land, close to Fremantle port and right on the freight routes that serve it. Food producers, trade suppliers, hardware and electronics retailers and automotive parts businesses fill the streets, with a couple of small residential pockets mixed in. That means a lot of our work is commercial: work vans that won’t start after a weekend, delivery utes with mechanical failures and container transport to and from businesses.
The big retail stores bring a different set of calls. Car parks fill up on weekends, and a flat battery or a car that won’t come out of park is a common reason to ring us. Some of those jobs are simple transport to a workshop. Plenty of the auto businesses in O’Connor and nearby Myaree are where those cars end up.
The surrounding roads are the risky part. Stock Road and Leach Highway are both major freight routes, and a breakdown or crash near their intersection can hold up a lot of traffic.
Getting around O’Connor
Leach Highway runs along the northern side, with Palmyra and the Fremantle Cemetery beyond it. Stock Road marks the eastern edge towards Kardinya and Willagee. South Street runs along the south, with Hilton and Samson across it, and Carrington Street on the western edge connects to White Gum Valley and central Fremantle.
