Towing in Balga: what keeps us busy
Balga was laid out by the State Housing Commission and has been home to families since the 1960s. Inside its boundary roads, breakdown towing is the bread and butter of our Balga work: overheating engines, worn clutches and cars that won’t start after a cold night. We also get regular calls to move unregistered cars off driveways and verges.
The four roads around the edge bring the rest. Wanneroo Road on the west and Mirrabooka Avenue on the east both carry heavy traffic towards the city, and Reid Highway along the south is a fast freight and commuter route. The interchange where Reid Highway meets Wanneroo Road is one of the busier spots in the area, and a crash on its ramps needs clearing quickly.
Main roads and neighbours
Beach Road runs along Balga’s northern side, with Girrawheen across the road. Mirrabooka Avenue separates Balga from Mirrabooka and its big shopping centre. Over Wanneroo Road to the west is Hamersley, with Warwick a little further north-west. Princess Road is one of the main streets inside the suburb, and the TAFE campus in the south-east corner is another spot where we pick up cars.
If your car has stopped in Balga
- On Reid Highway, keep well left and don’t try to cross lanes on foot.
- In a residential street, check you’re not blocking a bus stop or a driveway before you leave the car.
- Tell us the closest intersection with one of the four boundary roads. It’s the quickest way to point our driver to you.
- If the car needs to go somewhere other than home, have the address ready.
Call 0419 857 070 and we’ll get a truck to you.
