Chidlow breakdowns and recoveries
Chidlow is a semi-rural town surrounded by bush and acreage, so our work here is different from the suburbs closer in. Long drives home on Old Northam Road, farm vehicles that give up in a paddock and 4WDs bogged on soft tracks after winter rain are all common reasons people call.
Hobby farmers also use our vehicle transport service to move cars, utes and light trucks between properties, or to get something too big or broken into a workshop down the hill.
On summer weekends, Lake Leschenaultia brings plenty of visitors, and a car that won’t start after a swim is often a flat battery or a fuel problem.
Roads and landmarks around Chidlow
Old Northam Road forms the main street of Chidlow and joins Great Eastern Highway at both ends. Rosedale Road takes you out to Lake Leschenaultia, while Lilydale Road and Thomas Road serve the rural blocks around the townsite. The Railway Reserves Heritage Trail passes through the area on its way to Wooroloo.
Mount Helena is the closest neighbouring town to the west, and Mundaring is further along the highway. We cover the whole stretch of hills towns in between, including Parkerville, so the back roads out this way are familiar ground.
If you’re stranded in Chidlow
- Check your phone signal. If it’s weak, move to a higher spot before calling.
- Give us a property number, road name and the nearest cross road.
- If you’re on a gravel road, park well off it with your hazards on, especially at dusk when kangaroos are about.
- If you’re bogged, stop driving and let us do the recovery.
