Common jobs around Greenmount
The highway is the story here. Great Eastern Highway rises steeply over Greenmount Hill on its way from Midland towards Mundaring, and it carries everything from commuter cars to heavy trucks heading for the Wheatbelt and the Goldfields. On a hot afternoon, that climb finds out weak cooling systems, slipping clutches and tired automatic gearboxes. Coming back down, hard braking and heavy traffic lead to rear-end crashes, which we clear as accident towing jobs with direct billing to your insurer where possible.
Away from the highway, Greenmount is a hillside suburb with sloping blocks, bush reserves and some properties that are hard to reach with a big truck. Flat batteries at home, cars stuck on wet gravel verges and utes that have slid off a soft firebreak on a rural block make up the rest of our callouts.
Roads and places we cover around Greenmount
Great Eastern Highway cuts straight through the middle of Greenmount. Old York Road, the original route over the hill, runs alongside it for part of the way. Scott Street links down towards the Helena Valley, Innamincka Road and Wooloomooloo Road serve the residential pockets, and Swan View Road heads north towards Swan View.
Greenmount National Park takes in much of the hill itself. At the foot of the scarp you’ll find Bellevue and Koongamia, and to the east the highway climbs on past Darlington towards Glen Forrest. For a 4WD or ute bogged on a soft track nearby, see our 4WD recovery service.
What to do if you’re stuck in Greenmount
- On the hill climb, use the widest part of the shoulder you can reach and leave plenty of room for passing trucks.
- Say whether you’re going uphill or downhill and roughly where you are on the grade. That tells us which carriageway to come up.
- In a hillside street, chock a wheel with a rock or block if the handbrake feels weak.
- Keep passengers, kids and pets well away from the traffic side.
