What Kwinana callouts look like
Kwinana has two very different sides, and our work reflects both. Along the coast is the Kwinana Industrial Area, one of Western Australia’s most important heavy industry zones, with processing plants, chemical works, the grain terminal and the port facilities on Cockburn Sound. Work vehicles that break down there, plant equipment on the move and shipping containers going in and out make up a big share of our Kwinana jobs.
Inland, the town centre and residential suburbs are a different story. Kwinana Marketplace, on Gilmore Avenue, is the main shopping centre for the area, and its car parks produce the usual flat batteries and cars that won’t restart. Around the residential streets we see a lot of older cars, and many owners just want them taken to a mechanic they trust.
The Kwinana Freeway adds commuter breakdowns and crashes, particularly around the Thomas Road interchange.
Main roads through Kwinana
Thomas Road is the main east to west link, running from the industrial area across the freeway and out towards Byford. Gilmore Avenue runs north to south through the town centre and on towards Rockingham. Rockingham Road heads north from the industrial strip through Naval Base to Wattleup and Fremantle, while Mandurah Road runs south towards Mandurah, with Rockingham just to the west of it. On the freeway side, Wellard and Baldivis are the nearest suburbs.
If you’re stuck in Kwinana
- In the industrial area, give the company name and gate number, not just the road.
- At the shopping centre, note which car park and the nearest entrance.
- On Thomas Road or the freeway, get off the road as far as you can and stay clear of trucks.
- If the vehicle is heavy or loaded, tell us the weight and load before we send a truck.
