Why Wandi residents call us
Wandi was approved as a suburb in 1978 and zoned special rural, so much of it is made up of two-hectare blocks in bushland, some of it part of the Jandakot Regional Park. Out there, calls often involve a car or ute that has died at the end of a long driveway, a vehicle bogged on a sandy track after rain, or a project car that needs vehicle transport to a workshop.
The western side is very different. The Honeywood estate has grown fast between the freeway and Lyon Road, with young families, new homes and plenty of construction traffic. Here it’s flat batteries, tyre damage from building sites and second cars that won’t start on a school morning.
The Kwinana Freeway runs along the western boundary, and breakdowns or crashes near the Rowley Road and Anketell Road exits are among our more urgent jobs in the area.
Roads and places we cover around Wandi
Lyon Road runs parallel to the freeway on the east side and is the main way into Honeywood. Rowley Road crosses near the northern edge and links west towards Wattleup and the industrial land there, while Anketell Road to the south leads towards Kwinana. De Haer Road runs through the rural section and is home to the community centre with its horse-riding area.
Across the freeway, Aubin Grove and Hammond Park are close by, with Aubin Grove station the nearest train stop.
Broken down in Wandi? Some quick advice
- On a rural property, tell us about gates, soft sand and any dogs or horses loose on the block.
- In Honeywood, give us the full street name, since some streets are new.
- On the freeway, stay well left and keep behind the barrier where you can.
- If you can’t find a street number on a rural road, describe the nearest intersection or letterbox.
