Why we’re called to Tamala Park
Very few people live in Tamala Park. Most of it is coastal bushland, plus the large waste and recycling facility run by the Mindarie Regional Council. So nearly every job we do here falls into one of two groups: vehicles on the roads passing through, and vehicles at the tip.
Marmion Avenue and Connolly Drive both cut through the locality, joining the Joondalup suburbs to Clarkson, Mindarie and Butler. These undeveloped sections have higher speed zones, no driveways to turn into and long gaps between intersections, so a breakdown here can feel isolated. Overheating, blowouts and crashes with kangaroos or with other cars are the typical reasons we’re out on these roads.
At the waste facility, overloaded utes and trailers take a beating. Broken trailer springs, wheel bearings that seize and utes that won’t restart after waiting in the queue are common breakdown towing jobs.
The roads that cross Tamala Park
Marmion Avenue runs through the western side, from the Burns Beach end in the south up to Mindarie and Clarkson to the north. Connolly Drive runs parallel further east, from Kinross up to Neerabup Road in Clarkson. The Yanchep railway line and the Mitchell Freeway run along the eastern edge, with Neerabup on the far side.
The Catalina housing estate in Clarkson sits just to the north of the landfill, so traffic on these roads keeps growing.
