Why people in Glen Forrest call a tow truck
Glen Forrest is a leafy hills suburb of big blocks, winding streets and long driveways, so many of our jobs here start at home. A car that won’t start at the bottom of a steep gravel drive is a different job to one parked on a flat street, and we plan for that before the truck arrives. Winter rain turns some clay verges and firebreaks soft, and we get calls from people who have backed a ute or 4WD a little too far off the bitumen.
The other side of the work is Great Eastern Highway, which forms the northern boundary of the suburb. Trucks, commuters and weekend traffic all climb through here on the way to Mundaring and beyond. Overheating on the long grade, failed clutches and the occasional rear-end crash near the Hardey Road intersection keep us busy. For anything involving another vehicle, we handle it as accident towing and can deal with your insurer directly.
Getting around Glen Forrest: roads, trails and neighbours
Great Eastern Highway is the main way in, with Hardey Road dropping south from the highway into the middle of the suburb. Glen Forrest Drive, Ryecroft Road and Thomas Road carry most of the local traffic through the residential pockets. The old railway line that once ran through town is now the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail, which crosses several local streets.
To the west, the suburb runs into Darlington. Heading east along the highway brings you to Mahogany Creek and then Mundaring. John Forrest National Park lies on the far side of the highway, and the Helena River valley marks the southern edge. If your 4WD is stuck on wet ground on a rural block nearby, our 4WD recovery crew can help.
Broken down in Glen Forrest? Do this first
- On the highway, pull fully onto the verge and keep everyone out of the traffic lane.
- At home, check whether a truck can turn around at the top or bottom of your driveway and tell us when you call.
- If you’ve slipped off a gravel edge, stop accelerating. Spinning wheels dig the car in deeper.
- Give us the street name and nearest cross street, as some hills addresses are hard to find from the road.
Call 0419 857 070 and we’ll talk you through the next step.
